Dr. Ahmad at-Tayyib, previously the Grand Mufti of Egypt, and current President of al-Azhar University, has just been appointed as the new Shaykh of al-Azhar. (http://english.aljazeera.net/news/middleeast/2010/03/2010319165631215994.html)

I’ve heard many good things about him, so I am pleased at this decision and ask Allah ta’ala to assist this shaykh in raising the noble Azhar and reviving it.

Brother anon- i’ll email you inshaAllah. I tried to meet shaykh battawi, but it was not written. In fact i went to his bookstore and publishing house to get his phone number hours before he passed away! subhanAllah..
